EXCERPT:

ICEBERG ll

An iceberg crosses the field of ocean
Like a running dog, cormorants
Shaping flickering corpse candles
Against the apple-green chalcedony
Of rotten ice at the edges.

Sea worms crawl in and out
Of small fissures. Around the melting
Shore, flails of dead sea wrack ripped
Loose by arctic storms
Crumble the softened triangles.

Ice, dragged by the blast
From its arctic galaxy
To a surprised heat death,
Wallows with the aghast
Fertility of a neutron star.
